New Delhi, September 2026: Agrinnovate India Limited (AgIn), the commercial arm of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), participated in the ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural cooperation between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), highlighting the importance of innovation, technology exchange and sustainable agricultural development.

India and ASEAN share strong economic, geographical and cultural linkages, with agriculture remaining an important area of cooperation and bilateral trade. The ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) provides an important framework for trade in goods, including agricultural commodities. The ongoing review of AITIGA also presents opportunities to further facilitate trade and strengthen market linkages between India and ASEAN Member States.

Agriculture has emerged as a key pillar of the broader India–ASEAN partnership, with cooperation extending beyond trade to areas such as agricultural research, technology development, capacity building, food security, climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable farming practices. India and ASEAN have also established mechanisms for regular cooperation in agriculture and forestry through the ASEAN–India Working Group on Agriculture and Forestry and ministerial-level engagements.

In this context, Agrinnovate India Limited plays an important role in facilitating the dissemination, commercialization and international outreach of agricultural technologies developed within the ICAR system. AgIn serves as a bridge between ICAR and stakeholders in the agricultural sector, including industries, entrepreneurs, research institutions and international partners.
